4 Lessons to help you Understand the Mind to Relieve Stress

In this course, we will further explore how the mind works and learn practical exercises in harnessing the energy of the mind. As it is often said, your mind is your best friend or your worst enemy. Situations or events around us can either be stressful or not, depending on how we react internally to it. This means the perceptions we hold, the thoughts that are triggered and the resulting emotions because of the way we think leads to whether we experience a situation as stressful or not – or rather the degree to which we allow a situation to impact us negatively.

Deeper breathing is the first step to learning to relax. It is also gives us that moment to pause and reconsider our response – whether internal or external. This process helps to strengthen an inner capacity to find healthier ways of responding and breaking old patterns. As we take accountability for our thought patterns, we begin to redirect our thinking towards a more affirming and healthy way of being.

Secondly, we will explore the concept of self-observation – which is a pre-requisite for self-awareness. Only when we become more self-aware can we exercise choice, otherwise we continue to live out our old habits blindly.

Thirdly, we will explore the art of reflective thinking and redirecting our thinking in a more positive and affirming direction. In this way creating new healthier patterns internally.
